Janesta Desria Shamalda Nairn, a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education & Supervision has over 20 years of experience in the juvenile justice sector and 10 years in counseling. Dr. Nairn holds the Court Support Manager's position at Cobb County Juvenile Court in GA and is an adjunct professor at Rasmussen University. Her past experiences include residential and CORE agencies.

Carol Staben-Burroughs, LCPC

Board Member

Carol Staben-Burroughs, LCPC, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in private practice based in Bozeman, Montana. She holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Montana State University and is licensed for independent practice. Carol specializes in individual and relationship counseling, with a focus on marriage and divorce transitions, as well as anxiety-related issues. With decades of experience, Carol has trained hundreds of mental health professionals and public safety personnel across Montana and beyond in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM). Known for her dynamic, humorous, and interactive training style, she frequently lectures on a wide range of mental health topics.


Carol is a certified Trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and provides regional training for law enforcement, firefighters, medical staff, and other public safety teams. She also serves as the Clinical Director for the Gallatin County CISM team and volunteers with the Montana CISM Network. Additionally, she is an approved instructor for the Montana Law Enforcement Academy.

Dr. Stephen A. Giunta, MFLC

Board Member

Dr. Stephen A. Giunta is a Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC). He has provided counseling services for a number of military communities, including those at Lakenheath Royal Air Force base in England, Kaiserslautern in Germany, MacDill AFB in Florida, and Incirlik in Turkey. Dr. Giunta has been coined at a number of these assignments. He is a service award recipient from the Military and Government Counseling Association. He has worked both as an imbedded Adult-based MFLC and a School-Based MFLC.


Prior to being a MFLC, he served as the Clinical Supervisor for Troy University’s Tampa Bay campus. He has been a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and their Florida state chapter (FMHCA) since 1998. Dr. Giunta is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in Florida. He is a past president of AMHCA, FMHCA and SMHCA (the Tampa Bay regional chapter).

Gale Marshall Macke

Chief Executive Officer

For the last 20 years, Gale has served as the executive director and CEO for one of the nation’s leading advocates for counselors, LPCA! Gale manages the association’s affairs, directs legislative efforts, and oversees efforts to build public support for counselors and to expand learning opportunities and services for members. She also represents counselors before the state Licensing Board-GA Composite Board of PC, SW, MFT, the Georgia Legislature and Congress. Gale joined LPCA in 2002 and previously served as a subcontractor for the retiring VP of Goldman Sachs, CFO, and Director of public relations/communications for several other companies.
